Talk about, draw pictures, and/or write a response to the book read or heard.
Create your own book with words and pictures.
Retell the story using words, pictures, and or actions (act out the story). Make a recording of yourself retelling the story.
Choose a part of the story that makes you think of something else you have read or someone read to you. Tell someone about it, or draw a picture of that part of the story and another picture of what it reminds you of.

YouCubed - From Standford University’s Jo Boaler, math challenges for all ages.
Pick a number between 1 and 20 (or between any 2 numbers up to 100). Have your child guess the number, then you tell if your number was greater than or less than his guess. Have your child keep revising his guess until he guesses your number. Then trade roles.

Read weather charts, movie schedules, and other common numerical information you find in the news.
When you’re doing the laundry, have your child match all the pairs of socks. How many socks are there? How many pairs?
Compare and organize tools, dishes, or other objects based on size, color, or weight.
Dice, cards, and board games can help your child learn addition combinations.

Throughout your time at home, you can ask your child to read the clock and ask them whether it is AM or PM.
Measure things around your house with inches and centimeters. Guess or estimate how long you think something may be before you measure it. After measuring check your estimate to see how close you were. Also make sure they can measure an object that is in the middle of a ruler. For example a crayon may be between the numbers 5 and 9 on the ruler. Make sure they know that the crayon isn’t 9 inches or centimeters long. It is only 4 in. or cm.
